Location - London
This is a Voluntary National Contribution (VNC) post within DIANA. VNCs have and will keep their statutory and/or contractual relationship with their government or other national authority throughout the period of their assignment to DIANA. As such, please ensure you have national support before applying.
The Defence Analyst will support in analysing the dynamics and market trends of defence adoption, focusing on the influence and impact of Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDT) in this domain. This role will ensure DIANA is enabling agile adoption pathways that bring tech to market. This will aid in the development of defence use cases to influence investment opportunities for both commercial and defence end users.
Duties of this role include:
- Conducting research on military equipment and the defence market, including developments within the defence industrial base, and associated start up communities
- Investigating potential defence and commercial application of dual use EDTs, monitoring global technological trends and advancements to anticipate future defence needs
- Collaborating with experts across NATO Allied nations, defence industries, and academic institutions to gather insights
- Working with the Adoption Team to facilitate adoption efforts and to provide support for the Chief Counsel - Rapid Adoption Service in the operationalisation of the DIANA Rapid Adoption Service
- Attending trade shows to gather data and research insights on new products, develop knowledge of the market
- Creating defence market reports and forecasts
- Monitoring news and events and providing situation report updates
- Perform any other related duties as may be required.
The incumbent must have:
- Experience of military procurement and/or research and development
- Ability to analyse complex datasets, interpret results and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience in drafting standard project documents such as project mandates, project plans, highlight reports, lessons learned reports, demonstrating good writing skills
- Experience working with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Possess the following minimum level of NATO official languages (English): IV ("Very Good").
