A Design Engineer job opportunity has become available within a well-established UK engineering manufacturer operating from a modern facility near the Redditch area. The business designs and manufactures complex mechanical products for a broad international customer base and is continuing to invest in its in-house engineering capability. This role would suit an experienced Design Engineer or Project Engineer with strong CAD skills, or a mechanically biased engineer looking to take ownership of product design from concept through to production.

The position offers a salary circa £48,000+ dependent on experience, 33 days annual leave, a bonus scheme, early finishes on a Friday, and long-term technical development.

Design Engineer Responsibilities
  • Mechanical design of engineered products using 3D CAD software.
  • Managing the full product development lifecycle from concept through to production launch.
  • Producing detailed drawings and technical documentation for manufacture and supply chain partners.
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers and internal departments to support project delivery.
  • Supporting the introduction of new manufacturing technologies and continuous improvement activities.
  • Investigating new applications, materials and manufacturing methods to enhance product performance.
Design Engineer Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in a design or project engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong 3D CAD capability, ideally using SolidWorks, Creo or Inventor.
  • Mechanical engineering background with strong technical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing engineering projects from concept through to production.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally.
