Our client has a great business reputation and is regarded highly in their sector. Recruiting for a People Advisor, reporting to the People Manager, this is an exciting opportunity offering a great working environment, as part of a high performing, friendly and professional team! The People team are based from the Tunbridge Wells office, but the role would require travel to the London office (typically once a week). Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week. Our client offers a salary of up to £35K plus 25 days holiday per annum, plus benefits applicable after a suitable qualifying period: a contributory pension scheme, free private medical care; free permanent health insurance and free life cover.

Duties Include:

  • Work with the Senior People Manager, People Manager and People Advisor to provide a comprehensive HR service to the Firm.
  • Keep colleagues up to date with regards to ongoing people issues, as and when they arise.
  • Responsible for non-routine database entries.
  • Manage discipline, grievance and routine employee relations situations as appropriate.
  • Advise people managers in relation to sickness absence.
  • Support with Occupational Health referrals and preparation of documentation under the guidance of the People Manager/Senior People Manager.
  • Provide advice regarding performance management matters and, where appropriate, manage the process under the guidance of the People Manager/Senior People Manager.
  • Manage the process for all types of leave.
  • Manage all flexible/agile working requests.
  • Actively participate, contribute and progress People projects and initiatives (i.e. EDI, GDPR, Diversity, policy reviews etc.).
  • Assist with the annual salary review process.
  • Generate own correspondence and deal with typing and preparation of non-routine correspondence and emails for the People Manager.
  • Support the People Team with the management of the HR database.
  • Manage the recruitment process.
  • Assist with non-lateral recruitment such as graduate recruitment, apprenticeship programmes and vacation schemes.
  • Assist with the onboarding of new joiners and departure processes for leavers.
  • Assist the People Team with the biannual appraisal process and any people matters arising as a result.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an experienced candidate, with good commercial awareness. Someone with proven experience of managing employee relation matters and a good understanding of employment law, best practice and the interpretation of policy. Competent across the various HR functions i.e. employee relations, recruitment, performance management, onboarding etc.; confident in utilising a Human Resource Information System; able to stay calm under pressure and “juggle” a large number of tasks. You must enjoy working with people and achieving results via people! CIPD qualification would be desirable, but not essential. A minimum of three years’ experience working in an HR capacity with at least one year at advisor level with the ability to deliver work to commercial and financial targets/deadlines.
