About the Role
Diamond Search Recruitment are proud to be representing a respected provider within children’s services, seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a Family Assessment Centre in South Yorkshire. This is a pivotal role for an accomplished leader who can ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based parenting assessments, safeguarding excellence, and full regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for the operational, regulatory, and strategic management of the centre, ensuring it meets Ofsted expectations and delivers positive outcomes for vulnerable families.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management
- Provide strong, child-centred leadership to the staff team.
- Ensure full compliance with Family Centre Regulations, Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Ofsted requirements, and safeguarding legislation.
- Promote a culture of transparency, reflective practice, and continuous improvement.
- Ofsted Compliance
- Maintain and embed the centre’s Statement of Purpose.
- Ensure all notifiable events are reported in line with regulations.
- Oversee quality assurance systems, including Reg 25/45-style monitoring.
- Lead preparation for Ofsted inspections and represent the service during inspections.
- Maintain high-quality, evidence-based assessment records.
- Parenting Assessments
- Oversee robust, analytical parenting assessments including baseline assessments, observations, chronologies, and final court-ready reports.
- Ensure assessments meet PLO and family court standards.
- Respond promptly to safeguarding concerns.
- Safeguarding
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- Lead on risk assessments, safety planning, and multi-agency escalation.
- Ensure a safe environment for children and parents.
- Staff Management
- Recruit, supervise, and develop staff in line with safer recruitment and Ofsted expectations.
- Deliver regular supervision, performance management, and training.
- Ensure staff are skilled in assessment models, safeguarding, and child development.
- Oversee rotas and staffing levels.
- Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular audits of case files, assessments, incident logs, risk assessments, and training records.
- Monitor performance and implement improvement plans.
- Use feedback from families and partner agencies to drive service development.
- Partnership Working
- Build effective relationships with Local Authorities, CAFCASS, health professionals, police, and legal representatives.
- Promote strong multi-agency collaboration and information sharing.
- Financial & Operational Management
- Oversee budgets, staffing costs, and placement resources.
- Ensure high occupancy and effective placement matching.
- Maintain building safety, compliance, and risk management.
Person Specification
- Essential Qualifications
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards within Ofsted timescales).
- Significant experience in safeguarding and working with children and families.
- Experience completing or overseeing parenting assessments.
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and inspection frameworks.
- Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ management experience within social care or children’s services.
- Strong safeguarding decision-making and risk analysis skills.
- Excellent report-writing skills suitable for court.
- Confident communicator with multi-agency partners.
- Experience supervising and developing staff.
- Desirable
- Social Work qualification (SW, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent).
- Experience in a Family Assessment Centre or Mother & Baby Unit.
- Experience managing Ofsted inspections.
