You’ll play a key role in supporting the Headteacher with the day-to-day and strategic leadership of the school. You’ll lead on key operational and educational initiatives, manage and mentor staff, and deliver high-quality, inclusive learning.
This is a part-teaching role (up to 40%), offering hands-on understanding of our pupils' needs and team dynamics.
Key Responsibilities- Champion student outcomes by driving high standards in teaching, learning, and care
- Lead and develop staff through mentoring, performance management, and training
- Collaborate on the school’s strategic vision, aligned with ALN and PMLD best practices
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and therapeutic environment with a focus on well-being and safeguarding
- Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals
- Lead on school improvement planning and track pupil progress using data-driven insights
- Degree-level qualification in education (QTS or equivalent)
- Experience teaching in a PMLD or complex needs environment
- Strong leadership skills with experience in project/school improvement initiatives
- In-depth knowledge of ALN pedagogy, Foundation Phase, and Routes for Learning
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with families, staff, and multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding, curriculum development, and relevant legislation
