Diamond Search Recruitment is delighted to be supporting our client in the recruitment of an experienced Data Protection Manager for a 6-month fixed-term contract based in Ashford, Kent. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Protection or Information Governance professional to join a well-established organisation, leading the operational delivery of data protection and information governance across the business.
Working closely with senior leadership, you will ensure compliance with UK GDPR, Data Protection legislation and Information Governance best practice while acting as the organisation's internal expert on all data protection matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational delivery of Data Protection and Information Governance across the organisation.
- Manage Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and Information Governance processes.
- Lead Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Privacy Notices and Information Sharing Agreements.
- Develop, implement and review Information Governance policies and procedures.
- Support compliance with UK GDPR, Data Protection legislation and the Data Security & Protection Toolkit (DSPT).
- Work collaboratively with IT and Cyber Security teams to strengthen information security and cyber resilience.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and stakeholders on data protection matters.
- Deliver Information Governance training and promote a strong culture of compliance.
- Lead internal audits, monitor compliance and implement continuous improvements.
- Investigate data protection incidents and support regulatory reporting where required.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies where appropriate.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced Data Protection professional who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience as a Data Protection Manager, Information Governance Manager or similar role.
- Excellent working knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection legislation and Information Governance.
- Experience managing Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and DPIAs.
- Experience supporting Data Security & Protection Toolkit (DSPT) compliance.
- Strong understanding of cyber security principles and information governance.
- Experience developing policies, procedures and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently while influencing senior leaders.
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Data Protection or Information Governance qualification (such as CIPP/E, BCS Practitioner Certificate or equivalent).
- Experience within regulated environments.
- Knowledge of ISO27001 and cyber security frameworks.
