Our client, a prominent law firm, is seeking a patent attorney (partner track) or patent agent with an advanced degree in the Biological Sciences.

Billable hours (Open to a reduced billable hour arrangement)

IP Associates- 2,000

Agents- $170k-$196k

Schedule- 3/2

Responsibilities:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in the biological sciences sector
• Conduct patent validity, non-infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses
• Participate in IP due diligence for life sciences companies
• Handle patent litigation and post-grant proceedings, including IPR, PGR, and interferences
• Advise clients on IP matters in emerging life sciences technologies such as gene editing and molecular diagnostics
• Collaborate with clients and colleagues to manage and develop IP portfolios

Patent Attorney Qualifications:

• Must have an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred, or M.S. with industry experience) in Biological Sciences (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Immunology, Virology) or an equivalent discipline
• J.D. from an accredited law school
• 1+ years of patent prosecution experience; 3-6 years of experience is preferred
• Prior law firm experience is required
• Admitted to practice before the USPTO
• Experience in litigation and/or post-grant proceedings is a plus, but not required

Patent Agent Qualifications:

• Must have an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred, or M.S. with industry experience) in Biological Sciences (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Immunology, Virology) or an equivalent discipline
• 1+ years of patent prosecution experience; 1-6 years of experience is preferred
• Prior law firm experience is required
• Admitted to practice before the USPTO
