Introduction
Looking for a trade that will take you places? We're offering a supportive, hands-on apprenticeship in general and site carpentry, where you'll learn the craft properly β not just watch from the sidelines. Every project is different, and you'll have a mentor who genuinely wants to see you succeed.
About the Employer
Diamond Property Development (operating locally as Diamond PD) is a South West-based construction and property development company handling new builds, home renovations, and outdoor transformations.
What You\'ll Do
A typical day or week as our apprentice carpenter: Start on site alongside our small, experienced team β you\'ll get stuck in from the off, assisting with the preparation and setup of extensions, new builds, loft conversions, renovation and refurbishment projects, learning how a professional job is planned and run from the ground up. Assist with first and second fix carpentry tasks β from stud walling, door frames and skirting boards to fitting staircases, window boards and internal doors, you\'ll work through the full range of tasks that make up a residential or commercial refurb. Learn to measure, mark out and cut timber accurately β under close supervision you\'ll develop core skills with hand tools and power tools, building the precision and confidence that every good carpenter relies on. Support the team with all aspects of site carpentry including first fix and second fix β no two refurbs are the same, so you\'ll encounter a variety of materials and challenges that keep the work interesting and your skills growing week on week. Pick up the professional habits that matter on site β safe tool handling, keeping a tidy workspace, communicating with the team and understanding how to read drawings and schedules are all part of what you\'ll learn alongside the practical craft. Gradually take on more responsibility as your skills develop β by the end of your apprenticeship you\'ll be confidently contributing to projects rather than just assisting, with a strong foundation to build a long career on.
