The Ballast Control Operator will report to the Barge Supervisor and will be responsible for maintaining the trim and draft of the MODU as instructed by the Barge Supervisor, ensuring the stability is maintained within the criteria specified in the Operations Manual. The Ballast Control Operator will monitor alarm and other control systems (including the PTW system) and react positively to maintain control and mitigate effects which might jeopardise health, safety, and operation of the installation.
Primary Responsibilities:- Man the Ballast Control Room, maintaining trim and draft, monitoring gas, heat, and smoke detection, and raising the relevant alarms as required.
- Maintain stability data on control room computer, including deck load distribution, and perform visual checks of deck loads regularly to confirm this data.
- Maintain logbooks of daily activities, marine details, helicopter and boat movements as required by regulation and as instructed by the Barge Supervisor.
- Develop and maintain communication links with all other departments, client's representatives, third-party company representatives, and approaching and attending vessels as required by operational procedures.
- Assist the Barge Supervisor, as a member of the Marine Department, with any duties or operations the Barge Supervisor deems fit.
- Perform duties as Permit Coordinator and administer Permit to Work documentation as detailed in SPQ47 and SPQ48.
- Participate fully in all Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives and safety programs.
- Follow Diamond Offshore's Global Excellence Management System (G.E.M.S.).
- Perform other duties as required.
- Legally authorized to work in the United Kingdom without restriction.
- Willing and able to be away from home for more than 21 days.
- Possess a valid passport.
- Possess a valid BOSIET certification.
- Possess a valid MIST certification.
- Possess a valid OGUK Medical Certificate with Fit to Train certificate.
- Possess a MODU/Marine Licence.
- Possess a valid GMDSS certification.
- Possess a valid Stability Level 3 or 4 certification.
- Previous offshore drilling experience.
- Possess a valid Lifeboat Coxswain Twinfall certification.
