About our Mechanical Technician Opportunities
At Diamond we regularly recruit for skilled Mechanical Technicians into different specialisms throughout our Science and Technical Divisions, and we’re always interested in hearing from talented individuals interested in developing their career at Diamond, including people that currently or previously served in the UK Armed Forces.
Mechanical Technician roles vary by division and area. The roles are hands-on and the key duties may include:
- Working on the assembly, maintenance and repair of the Diamond facility.
- Carrying out inspection and acceptance testing of components and subsystems.
- Working with scientists and technical support groups associated with beamlines during maintenance, commissioning, and operations.
Depending on your specific role, you may also carry out some of the following:
- Pipe fitting to Swagelok qualifications.
- Modifications and manufacture of components using manual and CNC machines.
- Lifting operations (when trained and registered).
- Driving Tug and Trailer (when trained and registered).Driving Forklift Trucks (when trained and registered).
- Logging information in databases, excel and word documents etc.
- Use of hand tools and metrology equipment such as:
- Torque wrenches
- Dial test Indicators
- Micrometers
- Vernier Calipers
- Hydraulic Pressure test equipment
- Clean assembly procedures.
- Use of vacuum test equipment.
- Maintaining existing equipment and working with scientists and engineers in designing and installing new equipment.
- Helping scientists to carry out experiments, including machining small pieces of equipment as required.
Training will be provided as necessary.
