The Housekeeper/Janitor will ensure a safe, clean, properly maintained facility for the wellbeing of patients and staff. To maintain and keep the facility clean as per standards set by the facility Environmental Services policies and procedures and Director of Facility Operations. Must work well with children, adolescents and adults. Demonstrates a good working knowledge of infection control standards, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities include:
- Disinfect bathroom sinks, countertops, toilets, and showers;
- Wipe walls and stall doors;
- Sweep;
- Replenish paper products and hand soap;
- Wet mop and dry mop daily;
- Clean nursing station;
- Dust and disinfect furniture;
- Check behind, inside and under chairs daily for trash;
- Clean windows;
- Vacuum carpet in dayrooms;
- Dust patient room furniture;
- Sweep room floors;
- Clean all exit ways, front lobby, and vacuum inside and outside floor mats;
- Remove all trash daily on units;
- Clean and organize janitorial closet;
- Prepare cart for next day;
- A clean housekeeping cart and area demonstrate a good cleaning work environment;
- Perform other duties as assigned/required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent GED preferred;
- One year of training or experience in housekeeping, infection control, and floor/carpet maintenance;
- Requires dependability, punctuality, and good physical condition;
- Must have the ability to work harmoniously with all staff and to relate well with patients and visitors, including use of good judgement in limiting conversations with patients and co‑workers.
