An Accounts Supervisor bridges the gap between high-level financial strategy and daily operational accounting. This role is based in Huddersfield and is a hands-on position within a small team. It requires a broad range of technical expertise covering different elements within accounting and ensuring the finance function is efficient and compliant.

Core Responsibilities

  • Supervise: support and motivate a small well-established accounts team. Maintain daily workflows working with the team to achieve targets and demands of a busy manufacturing company. You will support and assist in all areas of accounting including credit control, purchase ledger, bank reconciliation (ensuring accuracy and identification of discrepancies), data entry and preparing financial reports and analysis.
  • Management Accounts & Reporting: Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes. Review profit and loss, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash flow forecasting and producing monthly reports.
  • Compliance & Regulation: Ensure all financial transactions align with UK GAAP or IFRS, and oversee the preparation and submission of VAT returns and corporate taxes.
  • Audit Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors, ensuring accurate delivery of financial records.
  • Payroll: Have a good understanding of Sage payroll and be able to assist when needed.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • Professional Qualifications: Typically, a recognized UK accounting or management qualification is ideally required (We will also consider candidates by experience (QBE)).
  • Industry Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience working at a supervisory level, ideally within a manufacturing or similar industry.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical accounting background alongside a high proficiency in Sage and Excel which is essential.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present financial analysis effectively.
