About the Role
Experienced Schools HR Advisor to provide high-quality HR and organisational development support to maintained schools. This is a rewarding interim opportunity for a confident HR professional who enjoys working closely with senior leaders, solving complex people-related issues, and helping schools make fair, informed, and legally sound decisions. You will play a key role in strengthening people management capability, supporting positive employee relations, and contributing to effective workforce planning in a busy educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a trusted first point of contact for schools, delivering responsive, practical and high-quality HR advice on employee-related matters.
- Coach and guide managers through options, risks and next steps, helping them take confident and appropriate action.
- Support a varied caseload covering employee relations, organisational redesign and other people management matters.
- Work collaboratively with wider HR and support services, including Employee Wellbeing and Pensions, to deliver joined-up advice and positive outcomes.
- Support constructive trade union engagement by preparing clear information, data and guidance for forums.
- Help develop confident people leaders in schools by working closely with HR and OD colleagues on effective, sustainable change.
About You
- A confident HR professional with strong knowledge of employment legislation, HR/OD best practice and national or local HR policies, ideally gained within schools or another complex public sector environment.
- CIPD qualification or equivalent relevant experience, supported by a good standard of general education.
- Proven experience providing clear technical HR/OD advice to managers and supporting employee relations casework from start to finish.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to advise, influence and build trusted relationships with senior leaders and managers.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines, work independently and maintain accuracy under pressure.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce concise reports, briefings and guidance.
- Confident IT skills, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and HR systems.
- A genuine commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice, with the ability to apply this in workforce and school settings.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel inside and outside the area when required.
