Description
The role involves providing comprehensive casework management and administrative support to ensure the effectiveness of the SEN, in accordance with the Children & Families Act 2014 and the SEN Code of Practice 2015.
Responsibilities
To undertake the statutory assessment process for EHC needs assessments and the issuance of EHC Plans within twenty weeks, adhering to statutory deadlines as outlined in the Children and Families Act 2014, SEN Code of Practice January 2015, and relevant caselaw.
Essential Qualifications
- GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics
- Degree level or equivalent experience
- Evidence of relevant continued professional development
- Postgraduate professional qualification in a relevant area (desirable)
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), social media, and CRM systems
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Successful candidates will have:
- Experience in statutory assessment processes for EHC needs assessments and issuing EHC Plans within deadlines
- Knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEN Code of Practice (2015), and relevant caselaw
- Experience handling complex cases, including appeals and legal proceedings
- Knowledge of case management systems
- Experience monitoring cases to meet statutory timescales
- Experience communicating effectively with parents and professionals
- Ability to support the transfer of pupils with EHC Plans across educational settings
- Knowledge of liaising with authorities on placements for Children Looked After and other children
- Experience in monitoring and reviewing annual reviews of EHCPs
- Ability to commission suitable educational provisions and placements
- Ensuring EHC Plans are person-centred and outcome-focused
- Ability to handle queries from internal and external customers
- Up-to-date knowledge of SEN legislation and policies
- Willingness to participate in procedural review and development
