We are seeking a Family Help Social Worker for a local government client in Weymouth, Dorset. You will join a supportive, well-structured, and growing team that offers flexible working arrangements and regular reflective supervision. Responsibilities

  • Deliver statutory services in accordance with the Children Act 1989 and relevant legislation.
  • Complete high-quality assessments and timely care plans.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children through direct, meaningful work.
  • Build resilience with families using restorative and strengths-based approaches.
  • Prepare clear, well-evidenced reports for court and multi-agency professionals.
  • Chair meetings that bring professionals together to create a unified plan.
  • Maintain accurate case records.
  • Undertake specialist assessments with full training provided.
  • Collaborate closely with early years providers, education, police, health, and community partners to develop coordinated, child-centred support.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience within English local authorities.
  • A committed and thoughtful practitioner with a strong knowledge of statutory children's services, who is confident in managing complex court work and passionate about improving outcomes for children and families.

Qualification – Essential

  • GCSES or equivalent to include Maths and English.
  • Degree in Social Work (or equivalent).
  • SWE Registration.
  • Ability to travel across Dorset as needed.
  • Advanced user – Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, social media.

Essential Compliance Requirements

  • Five Years of References.
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB.
  • A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role. Please be prepared for this additional step in the application process.
