We are seeking a Communications Officer to develop, manage and evaluate communications and engagement campaigns on services across a range of channels and media, as part of a multidisciplinary team. To manage effective media relations, social media and stakeholder management.

Responsibility: To make the best use of available channels across the broad spectrum of communications disciplines. Have good professional knowledge and experience in the core professional disciplines of marketing, media, internal and digital communications. Track record in delivering campaigns, ensuring that all activity is monitored, evaluated, and reported and be aware of any new developments in digital channels and how we might use them.

Qualification – Essential:

  • GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Degree or equivalent or vocational qualification in the relevant subject or area.
  • Advanced – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), social media and CRM.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of the use of digital media and familiarity with different digital channels.
  • Experience in creating videos and infographics for digital platforms.
  • Experience working with various communications specialists, including media, campaigns, marketing and events.
  • Experience working in a pressured environment and delivering results to tight deadlines.
  • A knowledge of national, regional, local and specialist press.
  • Knowledge of local government, the services provided by local councils, and the responsibilities a commission has to its residents.
  • Clear writing skills and the ability to write for various audiences.
  • Excellent oral communication skills and the ability to maintain effective relationships at every level of an organisation.
  • Ability to translate complex information into a clear and approachable format for various audiences.
  • Good attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to operate under tight deadlines in highly pressured environments.

Essential Compliance Requirements:

  • 2 years' reference including current employment.
  • A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role.
