We are recruiting an experienced Executive Support Manager to provide high-level strategic and administrative support to a senior leadership team within a London local authority. You will act as a trusted partner to an Executive Director, manage two Executive Support Officers, and help ensure the directorate is organised, well-briefed, and focused on its priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive, high-quality support and advice to an Executive Director.
  • Line manage and develop two Executive Support Officers.
  • Manage diaries, workloads, meetings, reports, briefings and forward plans.
  • Draft clear communications for senior officers, councillors, partners, staff and residents.
  • Coordinate cross-directorate information, committee reporting and follow-up actions.
  • Lead or support multidisciplinary projects and monitor delivery against deadlines.
  • Oversee responses to council questions, complaints, casework, member enquiries and Freedom of Information requests.
  • Build effective relationships with elected members, senior leaders, public-sector partners and community stakeholders.

About You

  • Proven experience supporting executive directors, senior leadership teams or comparable senior stakeholders.
  • Strong line-management, organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent written communication, with experience producing reports, briefings and formal correspondence.
  • Confidence handling complex and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to coordinate competing deadlines and follow actions through to completion.
  • Strong relationship-building skills across multidisciplinary and external stakeholder groups.
  • Local government or wider public-sector experience is highly desirable.
