Provide a comprehensive range of social, physical, and personal care to older people living with dementia or frailty, with an immediate start and potential extension based on your performance, offering stability and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver personal care and emotional support to people we support who are staying on the units.
  • Support people to regain their independent living skills by working in a way that promotes independence and by implementing plans set by OTs and physiotherapists.
  • Encourage people to participate in unit activities and deliver 1:1 activities if they prefer.
  • Keep care records clear, understandable, and succinct, and notify the Team Leader of any concerns about people we support.
  • Be responsible for reporting any safeguarding concerns to the Team Leader and for acting in accordance with our policy and local procedures.
  • Attend regular one-to-one meetings, team meetings, and training courses, ensuring mandatory training is always up to date.
  • Support the Team Leader to deliver a safe and effective service.
  • Ensure that the requirements of the current national guidance are met and delivered in line with the service's regulator.
  • Promote inclusivity, embrace diversity, ensure equality, and ensure that the people we support are always at the centre of their care.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements

  • Experience of care and support of vulnerable people, preferably older people.
  • Ability to empathise with older people, their unpaid carers, and their families.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, patient, encouraging, and effective manner.
  • Ability to understand non-verbal communication.
  • Ability to provide care in accordance with the person we support's care plan.
  • Ability to escalate concerns to the team leader when the person we support appears to be deteriorating.
  • Ability to accurately record the person's condition/progress on their care plan.
  • Ability to travel to and attend training sessions.
  • Knowledge of older people's needs.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety procedures relevant to the job.
  • Awareness of data protection and confidentiality issues.
  • Awareness of and compliance with equality policy, procedure, and legislation.

Qualification – Essential

  • Level 2 Diploma in Adult Care or equivalent, Care Certificate or equivalent.
  • Administration of Medicine / Infection Control / Vulnerable Adults.
  • Manual Handling / First Aid / Health & Safety Training.
  • IT user – Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, social media.

Essential Compliance Requirements

  • 5 Years of References.
  • Enhanced Adults DBS.
  • Relevant Degree required.
  • Have access to a car and be willing to travel.
