Diagnostic World are a leading provider of NHS and Private healthcare with services delivered from Community Diagnostic Centres and Community Health. Within our service offering, we provide Non Obstetric ultrasound and Echocardiography services to patients across England on a referred and self-referred basis.
What you will do:
- Perform and report adult trans-thoracic echocardiograms in line with BSE minimum data set and local reporting guidelines.
- Ensure quality assurance checks on equipment and action as appropriate.
- Submit reports and archive study images in accordance with contractual requirements and local SOPs.
- Liaise with relevant hospital departments and GP practices for urgent clinical referrals.
What you are responsible for:
- Clinical: To independently perform adult transthoracic echocardiograms in line with BSE minimum data set and local reporting guidelines. Responsible for and have a care of duty of patients whilst carrying out all encounters. To obtain formal/informal consent for procedures, and to check for any contra-indications for the tests. During investigations to ensure that diagnostic results are produced and stored in line with SOPs. Maintain and calibrate the equipment used to perform diagnostic tests and procedures.
- Operations: Provide the patient with all the relevant details of the test being performed to them. Instruct patients as to when they will be seen by doctors to discuss test results. Communicate with internal staff and external companies regarding breakdown/maintenance of equipment. Expediting abnormal findings to the appropriate members of staff. Give professional advice and opinion if applicable and where necessary. Use of effective time management in a high workload area on a daily basis.
- People Management: Communicate complex information to patients in lay-man's terms. Also need to overcome barriers such as language, environment, uncooperative and vulnerable patients, while exercising empathy, tact and reassurance. Deal with difficult, elderly, and young patients effectively, including those with learning difficulties / mental problems and hearing problems. This can be very challenging. Communicate with all levels of staff within Diagnostic World. Recognise and act upon the cultural and religious needs of patients attending for tests. Promote a good working relationship with other team members. Provide support and advice to other staff members and clerical staff.
- Quality & Audit: Check the patient's details against the request form to ensure all details are correct. Attend in house quality meetings and training sessions. Take responsibility of risk management within own area.

You will:
- Hold a relevant BSc (Hons) degree.
- Hold or be working towards BSE (British Society of Echocardiography) accreditation.
- Hold a full UK driving License.
- Have extensive knowledge of cardiology.
