About the Role

As a Mechanical Compliance Engineer at our Leven Packaging site you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our engineering and operational activities. Reporting to the Site Engineering Maintenance Manager, you will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of safe isolation standards across the site. This includes ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation, Diageo Global Technical Standards, and industry best practice, particularly HSG253 – Safe Isolation of Plant and Equipment. Your work will directly support the prevention of process safety incidents, loss of containment, and risks associated with hazardous energy.

You will provide technical leadership across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic isolation, embedding robust isolation processes into permit-to-work systems and maintenance practices. This will involve developing and maintaining isolation philosophies, procedures, and documentation while supporting audit actions, incident investigations and compliance activities across areas including DSEAR, PUWER, COMAH, PSSR, and Process Safety Management. You will also play a key role in coaching and upskilling operational and maintenance teams, ensuring a consistent, high-standard approach to safe isolation across the site.

About You

You’ll be a time-served Mechanical, Process, or Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong foundation in manufacturing maintenance and safe isolation practices. You bring a solid understanding of hazardous energy control, isolation verification techniques and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings and P&IDs. You are confident working with digital systems such as SAP or other CMMS platforms and have a good working knowledge of core legislation and standards related to process safety and engineering compliance.

You thrive in a role where you can influence, coach, and drive best practice combining technical expertise with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. Experience in high-hazard environments, functional safety systems, or complex shutdown planning would be highly advantageous. Above all, you are passionate about safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence, with the ability to engage teams, challenge where needed and ensure standards not only meet compliance requirements but go beyond them.

Rewards & Benefits

We offer a competitive salary alongside a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your lifestyle and wellbeing. This includes product allowance, pension scheme, share plans as well as a range of discounts across retail and wellness.
