Project Engineer – Packaging

Join Diageo’s Global Engineering team and take ownership of capital projects that improve how our world-famous brands are made, packaged and delivered. You’ll work with people at every level — from operators to engineering SMEs — bringing alignment and momentum to complex projects. You’ll bring technical understanding, commercial awareness and delivery focus — and turn business needs into real project outcomes through suppliers, contractors and partners.
About The Role
- Lead the planning, execution and delivery of capital projects across packaging, process and utility systems
- Willingness and drive to lead a culture of safety throughout project delivery, from design, implementation and across the lifecycle of industrial assets
- Deliver packaging and process upgrades that improve safety, speed, efficiency and sustainability
- Manage contractors, OEM partners and engineering suppliers to deliver safely and effectively
- Own CapEx investment delivery (including >£1M projects), ensuring safety, cost, schedule and quality targets are met
- Drive continuous improvement and embed best-practice project delivery methods
- Ensure compliance with relevant construction safety regulations and site safety standards (e.g. UK-CDM)

- Strong relationships with suppliers and site teams
- Issues anticipated early and resolved through influence, not escalation
- Standard ways of working adopted and sustained
About You
- Experience delivering engineering or manufacturing projects end-to-end
- Relevant Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Chemical, CE&I) or HND/HNC with Experience (CEng desirable)
- A recognised project management qualification (PMI, APM, PRINCE2 etc.) & Safety (NEBOSH Certificate)
- Experience in similar industrial environment & managing engineering projects
- Experience in use of Microsoft 365 suite & Project Management software (MS Project preferred)
- A problem solver who’s confident leading workstreams and bringing people with them.
