Food Standards Co-ordinator

Location: Runcorn, Cheshire

Full-time/Permanent position

We’re looking for a Food Standards Co-ordinator to lead the way in driving food safety and regulatory excellence at our Runcorn packaging site.

Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the Governance Manager, the Food Standards Co-ordinator will have overall responsibility for the development, implementation and maintenance of our food safety management programmes. You’ll ensure full compliance with Diageo Global Risk Management Standards, ISO 9001:2015, and FSSC22000, while actively promoting food safety as part of the day-to-day site culture.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implementation of a strategic plan to drive continuous improvement in food safety, including completion of food safety and hygiene audits.
  • Maintain the food safety management system that delivers regulatory compliance and ensures that requirements of internal and external accreditation are fully met.
  • Completion of food safety and audit reports to schedule.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the HACCP team and maintain the site HACCP plan.
  • Deliver the internal hygiene and housekeeping audit schedule.
  • Investigate food safety consumer complaints and drive corrective actions.
  • Implement a strategic plan for continuous improvement in food safety, including hygiene and audit programmes.
  • Maintain and develop the Food Safety Management System, ensuring regulatory, internal, and external accreditation requirements are fully met.
  • Produce accurate and timely food safety and audit reports.
  • Support with validations and verifications of plant and process.
  • Actively promote compliance with company systems, processes and procedures as part of day-to-day site operations.

What You’ll Bring

  • A qualification in a science subject (e.g., GCE “A” Level or equivalent) plus relevant experience in a food-related business in Quality Assurance
  • Hands-on experience of HACCP and food safety management systems.
  • Exposure to laboratory work (ideally microbiological).
  • Knowledge of relevant management systems: ISO 9001:2015, FSSC22000 / BRC, and statutory requirements affecting the food industry.
  • Experience in standard development and auditing.
  • Strong influencing skills – able to challenge peers and senior managers constructively and objectively.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment.
