ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Diageo Engineering Apprentice at our Marshalls Road site in Belfast, you’ll learn by doing, working alongside expert engineers, getting hands‑on with real equipment, and building your confidence one step at a time. You’ll support day to day engineering tasks, help tackle technical problems, and share your progress through weekly reviews and project presentations. It’s a welcoming environment where curiosity is encouraged, your ideas matter, and your growth truly counts.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and shadow engineers during day‑to‑day tasks and engineering projects
- Assist with planned maintenance to ensure equipment runs safely and effectively
- Carry out fault‑finding and support root‑cause problem‑solving
- Follow all health and safety protocols and safe‑working procedures
- Document and report your work daily and weekly, both in writing and verbally
- Present your project work and complete a weekly job review
- Recognise opportunities for continuous improvement in your own learning and in the performance of the production line
- Contribute positively to a friendly, inclusive, supportive engineering team
This exciting programme will support you working towards an ENGINEERING Mechatronics, Level 5, Foundation Degree Higher Level Apprenticeship. Covering a period of 3 years you will spend your time at college – SERC (South Eastern Regional College) - one day per week, with your remaining 4 days spent on site. Suitable transport to and from work and college would be beneficial.
Entry Requirements
GCSE/ Level 2 Requirements
- GCSE grade C/4 in English Language & Maths (Or equivalent in an approved alternative qualification) or Level 2 Certificate in Essential Skills- Communication, or equivalent in an approved alternative qualification.
- Passes in 4 different subjects (can include English Language and Mathematics and as above), with 1 at GCE Advanced (A) level (grades A-E), and 3 at GCSE level (grades A*-C*/9-4), or equivalent.
Course Entry Requirements
- A minimum of 56 UCAS Tariff points including:
- GCE A level (A2): Typical grade profile CC [to include 1 from Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Technology & Design, Design & Technology, Engineering, Electronics or Double Award Science/Applied Science.]
- Or RQF Pearson BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering with overall award profile MPP or Diploma in Engineering with overall award profile MM.
- Or Access to HE Diploma (NI): 45% overall in an Engineering Access course and 45% in level 2 Access Mathematics.

WHAT THE SELECTION PROCESS LOOKS LIKE
STEP 1 — CV Submission
Share your current CV with your education and any experience such as part‑time work, volunteering, sports, hobbies, or projects. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences. We will review all applications and you should receive notification within 2 weeks on whether you are being progressed to step 2.
STEP 2 — Video Interview
If selected, you’ll complete a short Hirevue video interview. (Where applicable, you can share your preferred specialty area.)
STEP 3 — Assessment Centre
These assessment centres are held on‑site and last typically around 3 hours. You’ll meet members of the team and take part in activities designed to understand your strengths as well as having the opportunity to meet current apprentices and ask questions. This is a positive and energising experience for everyone involved!
