An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced practitioners to join our Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), working in a varied and fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. Unscheduled care offers a dynamic setting, providing exposure to a wide range of patient presentations.

At DHU Healthcare, we are looking for practitioners who are specifically motivated by the UTC model. We are a team driven by compassion, respect, and encouragement, where contributions are valued and every voice is heard. Together, we make a meaningful impact for our patients, colleagues, and communities.

Working within the UTC, you will practise as an autonomous clinician responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients presenting with a broad spectrum of minor injuries and illnesses. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your skills in managing acute presentations within an urgent care setting.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside experienced Advanced Practitioners, GPs, and nursing colleagues, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. As an Advanced Practitioner, you will demonstrate clinical excellence, contribute to the effective running of the service, and support colleagues within the department.

With access to a range of diagnostic tools to support clinical decision-making, the UTC provides an ideal environment to build on experience gained in Emergency Departments, Walk-in Centres, General Practice, or Out of Hours services, while continuing to develop your clinical expertise.

As a UTC Advanced Practitioner you will:

  • Be a registered Adult Nurse (NMC), Paramedic (HCPC) or Pharmacist (GPhC) with independent prescribing rights as a Non-Medical Prescriber and have consolidated experience in independent prescribing.
  • Hold a minimum of 2 Level 7 modules, including at least one covering advanced clinical assessment and examination skills (e.g. Advanced Patient Assessment and Management or Minor Illness/Minor Injuries).
  • Work autonomously within a supportive, multi-professional team environment.
  • Demonstrate evidence of autonomous physical assessment and examination skills in practice.
  • Be confident in the management of minor illness and have experience or willingness to develop skills in X-ray interpretation.
  • Demonstrate a broad clinical knowledge of both common and complex urgent care presentations in adults and children.
  • Have experience working within an urgent or emergency care setting.

For you, benefits that work.

We'll support your health, happiness and future with benefits that put you first:

  • Access to the NHS pension scheme (we'll also honour your existing NHS pension pot and holiday entitlement if you're transferring).
  • Wellbeing support.
  • Flexible working options.
  • Career growth and development opportunities.

At DHU Healthcare, we support your growth at every stage of your career. With clear career paths, tailored training, and the DHU Academy, you'll have the tools and the encouragement to explore new skills and opportunities, take the next step, and make an impact. From leadership programmes and apprenticeships to essential role-specific training, development is part of how we work and shape healthcare together.

We believe great care starts with people feeling valued, respected and supported. That's why we're proud to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and welcome colleagues from all backgrounds.

As a Disability Confident Employer, we welcome candidates to share any support or reasonable adjustments they may need during the recruitment process.

We proudly support the Armed Forces community, recognising the strengths and dedication they bring.

We're proud to offer fulfilling roles with real opportunities for growth - plus training, wellbeing benefits and clear career pathways. Ready to make the difference? We'd love to hear from you.
