We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Shift Lead to join our NHS 111 Clinical Lead Team. This role is central to ensuring patient safety, clinical quality and the effective management of our urgent care service. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide experienced clinical oversight across our call centres, supporting both staff and patients during every shift.

Purpose Of The Role & Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the clinical floor, guiding teams in real time to keep patients safe and the service running smoothly.
  • Own clinical quality, managing queues, prioritising urgent cases and ensuring KPIs and national standards are always met.
  • Be the clinical go‑to, providing expert advice, supporting call handlers and delivering safe telephone assessments when needed.
  • Grow and empower the team, coaching clinicians on shift, supporting performance, leading debriefs and championing continuous development.
  • Champion professionalism and collaboration, escalating risks, upholding governance standards and working closely with teams across urgent and primary care.

Person Specification

  • Experienced registered clinician (Nurse/Paramedic/Pharmacist) with strong clinical judgement and NHS Pathways/Adastra familiarity.
  • Confident leader and coach who can support, motivate and guide teams in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
  • Calm, clear communicator with excellent people skills, able to work under pressure and make sound decisions quickly.
  • Organised, adaptable and tech‑savvy, with solid IT skills and the ability to prioritise and delegate effectively.
  • Positive, professional and proactive, committed to personal growth, flexible working and delivering high‑quality care every time.
