An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced practitioners to join our Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), working in a varied and fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. Unscheduled care offers a dynamic setting, providing exposure to a wide range of patient presentations.

Working within the UTC, you will practise as an autonomous clinician responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients presenting with a broad spectrum of minor injuries and illnesses. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your skills in managing acute presentations within an urgent care setting.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside experienced Advanced Practitioners, GPs, and nursing colleagues, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. As an Advanced Practitioner, you will demonstrate clinical excellence, contribute to the effective running of the service, and support colleagues within the department.

Main duties of the job:

  • Be a registered Adult Nurse (NMC), Paramedic (HCPC) or Pharmacist (GPhC) with independent prescribing rights as a Non-Medical Prescriber and have consolidated experience in independent prescribing.
  • Hold a minimum of 2 Level 7 modules, including at least one covering advanced clinical assessment and examination skills (e.g. Advanced Patient Assessment and Management or Minor Illness/Minor Injuries).
  • Work autonomously within a supportive, multi-professional team environment.
  • Demonstrate evidence of autonomous physical assessment and examination skills in practice.
  • Be confident in the management of minor illness and have experience or willingness to develop skills in X-ray interpretation.
  • Demonstrate a broad clinical knowledge of both common and complex urgent care presentations in adults and children.
  • Have experience working within an urgent or emergency care setting.

About us:

At DHU Healthcare, we are looking for practitioners who are specifically motivated by the UTC model. We are a team driven by compassion, respect, and encouragement, where contributions are valued and every voice is heard. Together, we make a meaningful impact for our patients, colleagues, and communities.

For you, benefits that work:

  • Access to the NHS pension scheme (we'll also honour your existing NHS pension pot and holiday entitlement if you're transferring).
  • Flexible working options.
  • Career growth and development opportunities.

As a Disability Confident Employer, we welcome candidates to share any support or reasonable adjustments they may need during the recruitment process. We proudly support the Armed Forces community, recognising the strengths and dedication they bring.

Ready to make the difference? We’d love to hear from you.

Key Success Measures:

  • Compassionate - We show kindness, consideration and understanding in everything we do and demonstrate our caring nature to our patients, people and communities.
  • Accomplished - We are available day and night, a responsive, adaptable, professional NHS partner, providing the best advice, care and treatment for every individual.

  • Encouraging - We believe everyone matters, so we inspire confidence in others - promoting speaking up, fostering career-long learning and development, and supporting improvement ideas.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability:

  • To practice autonomously without direct supervision.
  • To utilise advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose, treat and refer patients requiring the clinical service.
  • To recognise the need for, initiate and where appropriate interpret relevant diagnostic investigations.
  • To exhibit excellent nonverbal and verbal communication skills when dealing with patients and carers.
  • To maintain appropriate clinical records in line with current practice guidelines.
  • To work effectively as part of a multi-professional team in collaboration with other members of the service.
  • To adhere to performance measures.
  • To provide health promotion/accident prevention advice for patients and carers.
