Job Duties
Position contributes to the agency's public safety mission by serving as the manager of one or more housing units at a major correctional center. Collaborates with security, treatment, maintenance and support staff to ensure inmates receive effective reentry programming and services based on evidence-based (EBP) principles and practices. Oversees inmate classification, discipline, programs and services, security operations, audit compliance documentation, and building maintenance and sanitation for assigned unit(s).
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
- Extensive working knowledge of prison operations, policies and procedures.
- Experience effectively communicating with all levels of institutional staff, inmates and inmate family members.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver reports and presentations to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to make effective operational decisions.
Additional Considerations
- Advance knowledge in criminal justice, public administration, or a human services field.
- An equivalent combination of training and/or experience may substitute for the educational preference.
- Experience supervising correctional staff.
- Working knowledge of security and treatment within an adult correctional setting.
- Working knowledge of evidence-based research and practices for prison operations.
- Working knowledge of reentry programs and services available to inmates.
