Job Duties

• Position contributes to the public safety mission by managing daily activities of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers and Inmates in an institutional setting.
• Supervises and monitors staff on assigned shift to ensure a safe, secure, and productive environment.
• Leads and counsels staff.
• May coordinate work schedules and assign duty rosters for assigned shift.
• Contributes to administration of performance management system for staff.
• Conducts ongoing inspections to maintain security, sanitation and good order of the institution.
• Interacts with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• DCJS Certification.
• Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement.
• Experience supervising corrections staff.
• Working experience planning, scheduling, and/or organizing work to include timekeeping and duty roster management.
• Experience in reviewing and evaluating records and reports and applying post orders.
• Demonstrated knowledge of practices and procedures governing security and/or administration.
• Ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.
• Working knowledge in the use of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric and electronic controls.

Additional Considerations

• LEAD Graduate or equivalent applicable experience and/or training.
• Working experience with evidence-based practices.
• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs to include Outlook.
