Job Duties
- Position contributes to the public safety mission by managing daily activities of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers and Inmates in an institutional setting.
- Supervises and monitors staff on assigned shift to ensure a safe, secure, and productive environment.
- Leads and counsels staff.
- May coordinate work schedules and assign duty rosters for assigned shift.
- Contributes to administration of performance management system for staff.
- Conducts ongoing inspections to maintain security, sanitation and good order of the institution.
- Interacts with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- DCJS Certification.
- Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement.
- Experience supervising corrections staff.
- Working experience planning, scheduling, and/or organizing work to include timekeeping and duty roster management.
- Experience in reviewing and evaluating records and reports and applying post orders.
- Demonstrated knowledge of practices and procedures governing security and/or administration.
- Ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.
- Working knowledge in the use of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric and electronic controls.
Additional Considerations
- LEAD Graduate or equivalent applicable experience and/or training.
- Working experience with evidence-based practices.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs to include Outlook.
