Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a small team of drivers, allocating work, monitoring performance, and delivering team briefings.
  • Plan and schedule transport operations, manually routing and sequencing deliveries to meet service and efficiency targets.
  • Oversee fleet compliance, health & safety, and driver training, ensuring all vehicles and drivers meet legal, company, and customer standards.
  • Coordinate fleet maintenance, including MOTs and servicing, and act as the primary point of contact for customer transport queries.
  • Provide on-call cover as required, offering emergency support to drivers when needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working in a transport or supply-chain environment (e.g., a Transport Clerk/Admin) seeking greater responsibility.
  • Understanding of Working Time Directive and drivers’ hours is advantageous.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with confidence liaising with customers on-site and over the phone.
  • IT-literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with SmartTime, Tachomaster, or LogicS advantageous but not essential.
  • Hard-working, positive, proactive attitude; a strong team player who is hands-on, helpful, flexible, and willing to support all aspects of a small operation (from administration to customer meetings) to deliver an excellent customer experience.
