Role Purpose
To provide commercial and pragmatic legal support to the DHL Supply Chain business unit operating in the UK and Ireland ("DSC"), working closely with internal stakeholders and liaising with international colleagues where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercially focused legal advice to Directors, senior managers and operational teams across the DSC business.
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial and logistics contracts, including high-value and complex customer and supplier agreements.
- Support multi-million-pound bids by shaping and influencing transactions through clear, practical legal advice.
- Advise the DSC procurement team, particularly in negotiations with key and niche suppliers.
- Identify and manage legal risk, advising on mitigation strategies and escalating material issues where appropriate.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including Risk, Commercial, HR, CRE and Finance to ensure coordinated transactions.
- Provide training and guidance to the business on commercial contracting and relevant legal developments.
- Contribute to Legal team processes, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement, including contract approval and signature processes.
- Support DSC company secretarial matters as required.
- Work collaboratively within the GBS Legal Services UK & Ireland team, reporting to a Senior Commercial Lawyer.
- Undertake occasional travel to meet business needs.
Your Profile
- UK qualified solicitor with 4+ years’ post-qualification experience.
- Strong commercial contracts experience gained in-house and/or private practice.
- Commercially minded, pragmatic and decisive, with the confidence to advise independently.
- Able to manage priorities effectively and perform well under time pressure.
- Demonstrates professionalism, integrity and sound judgment, with the gravitas to engage senior stakeholders.
- Experience in logistics or an in-house environment is desirable but not essential.
