Why choose DHL eCommerce UK? Want to work for one of the UK’s best workplaces?
We are proud to announce that DHL eCommerce UK has been recognised as a Best Workplace 2025 and achieved Top Employer accreditation for the 5th year running. As well as competitive pay rates, you will be entitled to a range of benefits including discount vouchers for restaurants, cinemas, retail outlets, healthcare and much more as well as pension, enhanced family leave, childcare discounts, employee assistance programme and much more!
About the role: You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They’re a joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats and many more optional extras to make sure you’re comfortable.
Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and 9-hour shifts per day which typically start at 7/8am. Our well‑organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance where you’ll be driving, taking the stress out of your day.
The role gives job security, working within growing, global business. We operate a busy fleet – so there’s always all the work you need, giving you job security whilst working within a growing, global business. If you want additional hours, you can have them, and we offer enhanced rates of pay for bank holidays and night‑time hours (10pm‑6am).
You’ll be joining a friendly team – our drivers often stay with us for many years (we treat them well!) so you’ll be joining a friendly team who support each other – including sharing traffic updates through WhatsApp!
Key Role Responsibilities
We don’t micromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes. The average number of stops in a shift is 4 to 6, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy being out on the open road – but you’ll still be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift.
You’ll make sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time. At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you – at others, you’ll need to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.
You’ll be responsible for inspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
You will make sure everything is ‘right first time’ for your customers, both internal and external, and as a great communicator, you’ll work hard to keep customers happy, making sure any queries you can’t answer, are passed on to your site manager quickly.
