Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time), 40 hour week

Shift patterns: Monday to Friday (includes working UK bank holidays). Monday to Thursday working hours are 08:00-17:00 (8am-5pm) and Friday's are 08:00-14:30 (8am-2:30pm)

PLEASE NOTE: The role is based within a category B men's prison. You will be required to undergo an enhanced security vetting process if you are to be successful for this position.

On a weekly basis, inmates have the opportunity to order basic goods, like shampoo and chocolate, that they pay for with their own funds. At DHL, we manage the picking, packing and distribution of these orders. We're now looking for a Warehouse Team Leader who will play an integral role in the prisoners' lives, working with a diverse team to support their rehabilitation. You'll need to be comfortable handling tough situations and speaking up when the rules aren't followed.

✅ A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE:

  • Advocating Health & Safety across the warehouse, ensuring safe working practices and consistent adherence to SOPs.
  • Empowering and working alongside a team of prisoners to maintain accurate stock control and deliver timely, high-quality order dispatch.
  • Driving operational excellence by managing workflows, reconciling stock, and consistently achieving performance targets.

✅ THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO:

  • Are comfortable working in a secure prison environment, alongside inmates.
  • Are able to demonstrate their experience with encouraging, coaching and developing a team.
  • Can be confident speaking up and guiding prisoners when needed. This includes encouraging them to stay on task, follow rules and keep the space safe and moving.
  • Make the safety of everyone on shift a key focus.
  • Good at communicating firmly, fairly and clearly.
  • Have a good understanding of warehouse processes – but we will teach you the whole job!

✅ ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • You must have three recent years of UK address history (mandatory for enhanced security clearance).
  • You must have right to work in the UK with no limits now or in the future. We can't offer sponsorship for this opportunity.
