Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)

Shift patterns: 3 Week Rotation:

  • 1st week: 5am - 1pm Monday to Friday
  • 2nd Week: 1pm - 9pm, Monday to Wednesday, off Thursday and Friday then working Saturday and Sunday 5am - 5pm
  • 3rd Week: 1pm - 9pm Tuesday to Friday, off Saturday to Monday

DHL, an award-winning leading supply chain business is seeking a Transport First Line Manager to play a vital role coordinating our daily logistics requirements.

To succeed in this role, you should have a comprehensive knowledge of supply chain supervisory practices and a demonstrative understanding of warehouse procedures, including storing goods, dispatching orders and tracking transportation vehicles.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?

  • Execution of transport plans ensuring transport and network SLA's/KPI's are achieved
  • Have clear understanding of Objectives and KPI's applicable to your role and your team
  • Review and amend where appropriate daily plans
  • Collate all feedback against plan in the daily operations log for use in plan/do/review calls
  • Management of short term driver absence and relocation of work
  • Responsible for full and effective daily brief/debrief for DHL, agency and sub-contractor drivers
  • Responsible for driver and fleet legal compliance during shift in accordance with DHL Asset Management Centre of Excellence standards
  • Ensuring all drivers are appropriately trained and familiarised with both operations and equipment
  • Accident and breakdown management via DHL standard operating procedures
  • Ownership and accountability for driver induction, training and qualification are up to date for drivers reports
  • From time to time you may be requested to deputise for the Transport Manager on daily plan/do/review calls
  • To schedule, prepare and conduct quarterly 1-2-1's with all direct reports in line with OMS guidelines
  • Manage Driver performance to identify any major discrepancies in accordance with the Daily Transport Plan
  • Manage operational costs and identification of cost performance trends - i.e. fuel performance/accidents etc
  • Manage disciplinary and grievance in accordance with Company Policy and Procedures
  • Recruitment and selection

  • Previous and practical experience as a Transport Supervisor or Team Leader within a logistics environment
  • Transport Office experience
  • Transport legal compliance
  • H&S compliance, ensuring and promoting the best H&S Standards using Safe, sound check lists, safety conversations and Gemba problem solving processes
  • Comprehensive knowledge of supply chain practices
  • Previous experience of the preparation and distribution of volume orders
  • Computer literate with a practical knowledge of logistics software packages
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to supervise, organise and train direct reports
