Location: Thirsk

We’re looking for a Class 1 HGV Driver (Shunter) to join our team on a customer site, where you’ll play a key role in keeping trailer movements running smoothly and supporting day‑to‑day operations. This is a predominantly on‑site role with minimal road driving, but strong driving standards and compliance are still essential.

A Typical Day May Involve:

  • Shunting trailers on‑site for the majority of the shift (around 99% of the role)
  • Using a TUG to manoeuvre trailers safely and efficiently
  • Working closely with the on‑site customer, maintaining a professional and positive approach at all times
  • Completing vehicle checks and ensuring all equipment is safe to use
  • Driving in line with Drivers' Hours and Working Time Directive regulations
  • Complying with all health and safety standards and site procedures

This Role Would Suit People Who:

  • Hold a valid HGV Class 1 Driving Licence (C+E), Driver CPC Qualification and Digital Tachograph Card
  • Are confident with shunting and ideally have experience using a TUG
  • Are professional, reliable and comfortable working in a very customer‑facing environment
  • Can work effectively as part of a small team (you’ll typically be working alongside one other shunter)
