DHL Supply Chain is launching an exciting new operation in Bristol, supporting our valued customer, Waitrose, and we're looking for an experienced and passionate Driver Development Assessor (DDA) / Driver Trainer to join our growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a flagship site featuring outstanding facilities, including a modern gym and restaurant. Working within a fast-paced chilled and ambient logistics environment, you'll play a critical role in developing our drivers, improving safety standards, enhancing operational performance, and supporting a strong culture of continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

As a key member of the Transport Team, you'll be responsible for developing and maintaining high driving standards across the operation through coaching, assessment, training, and compliance monitoring.

A Typical Day May Involve:

• Delivering driver and warehouse inductions, OPS35A assessments, refresher training, and ongoing coaching to ensure high standards of safety, compliance, and performance
• Managing driver development through telematics data, training matrices, KPI monitoring, and structured support for new and less experienced drivers.
• Completing Delivery Point Risk Assessments (DPRAs), profiling Waitrose branches, and allocating drivers according to route risk and experience levels.
• Conducting on-road assessments, accident and incident investigations, root cause analysis, and recommending actions to improve operational safety.
• Maintaining accurate training and compliance records while working closely with operational teams to drive continuous improvement and best practice.

What We're Looking For

This role would suit someone who enjoys coaching and developing others while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.

You'll Ideally Have:

• A valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driving Licence.
• Driver CPC Qualification and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Strong transport operational knowledge and hands-on driving experience.
• Previous experience in driver training, driver assessment, or transport compliance.
• Experience conducting on-road assessments and driver coaching.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The confidence to challenge and influence behaviours positively.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage training records and compliance documentation.
• A proactive approach and the ability to work independently using your own initiative.
• A passion for continuous improvement and developing people.

Desirable:

• Completion of the DHL Risk Assessor Course (particularly for internal applicants).
• Experience completing Delivery Point Risk Assessments (DPRAs).
• Previous accident investigation and root cause analysis experience.
• Familiarity with telematics systems such as Microlise.
• Experience working within a retail or multi-drop transport environment.
