Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time), 40 hour week

Shift patterns: Monday to Friday (includes working UK bank holidays). Monday to Thursday working hours are 08:00-17:00 (8am-5pm) and Friday's are 08:00-14:30 (8am-2:30pm)

Location: HM Prison Birmingham, B18 4AS

PLEASE NOTE: The role is based within a category B men's prison. You will be required to undergo an enhanced security vetting process if you are to be successful for this position.

A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE:

  • Promoting Health & Safety in the workplace, from safety conversations through to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Leading a group of prisoners in a warehouse environment, whilst also being hands on with picking and packing.
  • Reconciling stock levels within the warehouse operation (based-on-site at the prison).
  • Managing the delivery of accurate and timely dispatch of orders to the inmates.
  • Ensuring operational targets are met and exceeded.

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO:

  • Are comfortable working in a secure prison environment, alongside inmates.
  • Can be confident speaking up and guiding prisoners when needed. This includes encouraging them to stay on task, follow rules and keep the space safe and moving.
  • Make the safety of everyone on shift a key focus.
  • Good at communicating firmly, fairly and clearly.
  • Have a good understanding of warehouse processes - but we will teach you the whole job!

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • You must have three recent years of UK address history (mandatory for enhanced security clearance).
  • You must have right to work in the UK with no limits now or in the future. We can't offer sponsorship for this opportunity.
