This is a full-time, permanent position in EMEA at Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Job Purpose:
As Category Manager, you will take ownership of procurement activities across the Fleet category (Cars & Vans, Heavy Vehicles, Trailers, Fuels—both sustainable and fossil), as well as support Transportation Services (outsourced transport) at divisional level. You’ll also play a critical role in advancing DHL’s sustainability and decarbonization goals within these categories.
You’ll be part of the Corporate Procurement Benelux team, working on behalf of all five DHL divisions in the region. You’ll report to the Head of Procurement Benelux, while also collaborating closely with the EMEA Sourcing Manager Fleet at our Global Headquarters in Bonn.
This is a highly visible and strategic role—balancing global category direction with local execution of the business needs.
Your tasks:
- Translate the European Fleet Category Strategy into a tailored Benelux strategy and ensure successful implementation.
- Lead and manage complex sourcing projects across the Benelux region.
- Build strong relationships with internal Business Partners, acting as a trusted advisor and procurement consultant.
- Lead supplier selection, contract negotiation, and vendor management—ensuring the best mix of cost, quality, service, and sustainability.
- Identify strategic sourcing opportunities, conduct supply market research, and support investment decisions.
- Develop and manage relationships with key strategic suppliers.
- Act as the single point of contact for all DHL divisions in the Netherlands for fleet-related procurement matters.
- Apply the latest sourcing technologies and foster innovation based on market knowledge.
- Promote knowledge-sharing and collaboration across procurement functions, stakeholders, and suppliers.
- Ensure procurement services are effectively integrated across divisions to deliver maximum value, efficiency, and satisfaction.
Your profile:
We’re looking for talent, not just years of experience. While the following would be ideal, we value potential, mindset, and expertise just as much:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale projects and complex stakeholder environments.
- Experience in the automotive sector (e.g., leasing companies, large dealerships, fleet operations)—either from a procurement or sales perspective is highly preferred.
- Procurement experience is a major plus—especially if it intersects with fleet or transportation.
- 7 + years in sourcing or a related field is preferred— however we’re open to strong candidates who bring the right skills, attitude, and drive.
- Strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills: positive, pragmatic, flexible, and solution-oriented.
- Confident communicator able to act as a trusted advisor, constructively challenging business needs when needed.
- Fluent English and Dutch.
