Working Pattern: 08.30 – 17.00 flexible – 40 working hours per week

About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Business Administrator Apprentice to join our UK Network Planning Group (NPG) team. This is a fast‑paced logistics environment that will help you develop an apprenticeship qualification. The UK NPG Commercial Air & Network Apprentice will support operations teams in daily decisions, liaise with stakeholders, and help roll out operational procedures, routings, and compliance relating to commercial air processes. The role will provide practical exposure across Network Planning activities, supporting the safe, accurate, and timely movement of freight through the hub.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support LHR hub with capacity management
  • Conduct daily warehouse walkarounds and liaise with supervisors
  • Check bookings for commercial and network allocations and learn how to book flights with a carrier
  • Learn to increase and decrease capacity
  • Support Network Routing Updates and Freight Transit Routing Updates
  • Complete schedule changes – Summer & Winter
  • Organise daily changes
  • Complete flight sheet allocations and daily update creations
  • Report on performance of daily operations

Health, Safety & Compliance

Work in line with all Health & Safety, security, and operational procedures. Wear appropriate PPE and follow safe manual handling techniques when in the warehouse. Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly. Comply with regulatory and company standards at all times.

Learning & Development

Complete all elements of the apprenticeship programme, including off‑the‑job training and coursework. Take responsibility for personal learning, development, and performance. Gather workplace evidence and participate in assessments as required. Rotate across operational areas to build broad hub knowledge.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a time‑critical environment.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow processes accurately.
  • Flexibility required to work at East Midlands Airport & Southern Distribution Centre to gain additional knowledge and support job role.
  • Physically able to undertake manual handling tasks, if required.
  • Willingness to complete required security and background checks.

Desirable

  • GCSEs (or equivalent such as Functional Skills) in English and Maths grade 4+.
  • Interest in logistics, operations, or aviation/transport environments.
  • Good IT skills.
