Department: Operations - Ramp Distribution Team
The Ramp is an essential department within operations at the EMA HUB. The ramp workers ensure that once material arrives in the Hub facility by air transport, the unloading and reloading is performed in accordance with DHL, Airline and Legal Regulations, and that the material is sorted in accordance with established procedures and is available for further distribution throughout the network at scheduled times.
Key responsibilities:
- Liaise with Ramp Trainers on individual needs/training requirements
- Co-ordinate freight to ensure it reaches stand on time
- Liaising with warehouse
- Support with the movement of ACS Freight
- Moving Empty containers
- Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain safe working conditions for yourself and others
- Coach and familiarise new joiners to the department after initial training to the required standard
- Prioritise workload of self and others
- Promote safe working environment
- Support DHL core operations, as required
- Contribute to On Time Performance of the DHL Network
- Facilitate EOS meetings when required
- Ensure the safe unloading and loading of all Aircrafts
- To ensure the on-time departure of all Aircrafts
- Moving between teams to support when required
- All employees are responsible for the health and safety of themselves and also those affected by their activities
- You must conduct yourself in an orderly manner within the workplace, ensuring that correct uniform and PPE is worn
You’ll bring to this role:
- Sound knowledge of DHL Ramp operations
- Understanding of cut off times and routing advantageous
- A safety-first attitude
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- An understanding of aircraft handling procedures (GAPS and Global SOP) (desirable)
- Ability to lead and coach staff to ensure optimal working atmosphere and employee engagement
- Excellent team working skills and be able to deal with colleagues at all levels
- Highly self-motivated and able to motivate others
- Confident using MS Office applications
- Knowledge of EOS and its importance to the business and CIS/CIM
- Must meet criteria for issue of an Airside Pass and must hold a full driving licence (B1)
- Band 1 Trained
