About the Role
As a Dangerous Goods Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and compliant handling, acceptance, and transportation of dangerous goods and restricted commodities across multiple transport modes.
This includes verifying documentation, packaging, labelling, and regulatory compliance with standards such as IATA, ADR, IMDG, AVI, and applicable state and operator requirements.
Working in a fast-paced environment, you will manage priority shipments, including medical consignments and radioactive materials, support the safe loading and segregation of dangerous goods, contribute to audits and compliance activities, and help promote a strong safety culture while providing operational support as needed.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring inbound flights and trucks for dangerous goods freight
- Transferring all data onto the relevant NOTOC’s (Notification to Captain)
- Dealing with customer queries via phone and email
- Administrating DG paperwork onto the relevant computer systems
- Scanning all DG paperwork to ensure compliance
- Confirming accounts are approved to ship DG using Account Approval System & DCVS-DGA
- Ensuring all reports are completed in a timely manner
- Attending and passing a 2‑yearly IATA DGR course
- Attending and passing a 2‑yearly ADR, AVI and IMDG course
- Inspecting and intercepting hidden dangerous goods entering the network and reporting accordingly
- Ensuring full compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental and other regulatory requirements
- Actively managing and monitoring all export reloads to ensure that all ULDs and plates containing DG are built correctly according to the Global SOP and AGOM manuals
- Ensuring builds comply with state and operator variations for the different countries to which we export
- Co‑ordinating with the team and liaising with other departments and external agencies to resolve DG issues quickly and safely, minimizing impact to the network
- Completing and reviewing RCIR and CAA reports

- DG Loadplanner Office qualification to sign NOTOCS
- DG Acceptance Qualification (IATA)
- Radioactive Acceptance Qualification (RADAC)
- Live Animals qualification (AVI)
- Dangerous Goods by Road qualification (ADR)
- Dangerous Goods by Sea qualification (IMDG)
- Radiation Protection Supervisor qualification (RPS) – appointed by DHL Aviation LTD
- Forklift B1 licence to process DG freight, including radioactives
- Tall mast short forks to retrieve hidden DG from auto sort on level 4
- Training on the 5‑tonne forklift for heavier builds from the ACS network
- Buggy training for non‑conveyable dangerous goods per GSOP
- DG Spillage Response Training (NCEC) for hazardous spills in warehouse and ramp operations
