Communications Apprentice – fixed term contract 16 months

Location: East Midlands Airport, Castle Donington, Derby

Contract Type: Apprenticeship (Fixed Term Contract)

Working Pattern: 08:30-17:00, flexibility required – 40 hours per week

About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Communications Apprentice to join our Air Capacity Sales (ACS) team. The role will support the Communications Executive by delivering communication plans across multiple channels, ensuring brand adherence and message consistency. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced logistics environment while working towards a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn, practise and advocate DHL Group brand guidelines – utilising support where necessary
  • Work with cargo general sales agents (GSAs) to ensure that brand guidelines are being followed on websites and social media platforms
  • Use Canva to design assets for use across ACS communications platform
  • Research and collate new content for the ACS Europe monthly newsletter, Stay Connected
  • Ongoing oversight of sponsorship requests via the Guest Management System
  • Prepare for internal and external events, such as the Air Cargo Europe trade shows
  • Proofread draft communications
  • Work with stakeholders, Group Brand Services, Sponsorship teams, ACS Europe, ACS colleagues in Europe & Global
  • Adhere to site Health & Safety

Qualifications

Essential

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a time‑critical environment.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow processes accurately.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Willingness to complete required security and background checks.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent such as Functional Skills) in English and Maths grade 4+.
  • Good IT skills.

Desirable

  • Interest in Communications and/or Marketing careers, logistics, or aviation/transport environments.
