Why choose DHL eCommerce UK?

About the role
You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They’re equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats and many more optional extras to ensure your comfort. Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and 9-hour shifts per day which typically start at 5/6pm. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance where you’ll be driving, taking the stress out of your day. The role gives job security, working within a growing, global business. We operate a busy fleet - so there’s always work available, giving you job security. If you want additional hours, you can have them, and we offer enhanced rates of pay for bank holidays. You’ll be joining a friendly team - our drivers often stay with us for many years, so you’ll be joining a supportive team who share traffic updates through WhatsApp!
Key Role Responsibilities
We don’t micromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes. This job involves trunking to regional hubs on the night shift. You’ll ensure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers on time. At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others, you’ll need to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day. You’ll be responsible for inspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary. You will ensure everything is ‘right first time’ for your customers, both internal and external, and as a great communicator, you’ll work hard to keep customers happy, making sure any queries you can’t answer are passed on to your site manager quickly.
Ideal candidate qualifications
- Class 1 Driving licence as a minimum
- Driver CPC qualification card
- Completed required DCPC training hours or be working towards them
- Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and commitment to safe use of the roads
- A ‘can do’ attitude
