Driver Hire Aberdeen are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Principal Mechanic to lead and oversee all mechanical and hydraulic workshop activities across their Aberdeen operations. This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing mechanical delivery, supervising Mechanical Supervisors and ensuring all build, refurbishment, maintenance, mobilisation and testing activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard. The successful candidate will bring strong mechanical and hydraulic experience, a disciplined approach to workshop operations and the ability to lead teams across multiple concurrent work scopes. This is an immediate requirement with a long-term opportunity for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all mechanical and hydraulic activities across workshop, yard and site operations
- Manage and support Mechanical Supervisors and wider mechanical teams
- Oversee equipment build, refurbishment, maintenance and mobilisation activities
- Ensure work scopes are properly planned, resourced and executed
- Provide senior technical support for mechanical and hydraulic fault finding activities
- Support commissioning, FATs, testing and operational readiness
- Ensure all work is completed in line with HSEQ, QA and operational standards
- Drive continuous improvement across mechanical execution, planning and team performance
Requirements
- Strong mechanical and hydraulic background within offshore equipment or heavy engineering environments
- Proven experience leading mechanical teams and complex workshop activities
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and hydraulic drawings
- Experience managing multiple work scopes and workshop priorities
- Good understanding of safe systems of work and workshop controls
- Previous FlexLay equipment experience advantageous
Package
- £48K– £58K per annum, DOE
- 38 hr working week - Mon–Thu: 7:30am–4pm, Fri: 7:30am–2pm
