We’re looking for a high‑level Master Technician or ambitious diagnostic technician to join our busy, forward‑thinking independent garage in Castle Douglas. This role is for someone who can diagnose, not guess — comfortable taking on complex faults, modern vehicle systems, and helping drive the technical standard of the workshop forward.
What you’ll be doing:
- Advanced diagnostics across a wide range of vehicles
- Fault finding on complex electrical, network, and intermittent issues
- Working on EV and hybrid systems safely and competently
- Carrying out and supporting ADAS diagnostics and calibration
- Supporting other technicians with technical challenges when required
- General mechanical work when you’re not looking at squiggly lines
- Mentor apprentices and junior technicians
- Maintaining high standards with minimal comebacks
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience as a Master / Diagnostic Technician
- Minimum Level 3 EV qualification
- Strong diagnostic ability — able to trace faults, not just replace parts
- Good understanding of modern vehicle systems, including SCR and emissions control systems
- Solid knowledge of vehicle networks (LIN, CAN, etc.) and control modules
- Confident use of oscilloscopes and signal analysis for fault finding
- Experience using manufacturer diagnostic tooling and technical information systems
- ADAS experience beneficial (calibration, radar systems, etc.)
- MOT Tester an advantage (not essential)
- Willingness to travel for training when required
- A mindset focused on continuous improvement — this role is constantly evolving
- Professional attitude and pride in getting it right first time
What you get:
- £45,000 – £55,000+ depending on experience
- No Saturdays — ever
- Birthday off every year (not from your holiday allowance)
- Extra holidays the longer you’re with us
- Modern, well‑equipped workshop with up‑to‑date diagnostic tools
- Ongoing investment in training (EV, diagnostics, ADAS)
- A proper working environment — no rushing, no cutting corners
The opportunity:
You’ll be joining a workshop that is actively investing in the future — EV, diagnostics, and advanced vehicle systems. This isn’t a place where you’ll be held back. You’ll have the tools, support, and environment to operate at a true master technician level.
How to apply:
Please send your CV and a short covering letter outlining your experience to the supplied email address. All applications treated in strict confidence.
