A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an IT Applications Manager to join our London based law firm on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and continuous improvement of the firm’s application landscape – in house development and off the shelf software that increases efficiencies across the firm.
  • Lead a collaborative approach to application design and enhancement, ensuring user feedback and business priorities inform the development roadmap.
  • Create robust, fit for purpose processes that help manage the team’s workload through ManageEngine Projects, ensuring prioritisation and timely delivery of BAU, releases, and project delivery.
  • Lead and develop the Applications Team, promoting technical excellence, secure development practices, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Ensure all critical systems (e.g. patent management system, document management, finance systems, CRM and people related software) are well integrated to eliminate data silos.
  • Oversee application governance, lifecycle management, and secure development aligned with OWASP ASVS.
  • Provide strategic guidance on architecture, integrations, and data integrity, aligned with firm-wide enterprise architecture.
  • Stay abreast of emerging tech trends, such as artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and data analytics and evaluate applicability to the firm’s operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Proficient in SQL, C#, Python, Java, HTML/CSS, and related development frameworks.
  • Understanding of API integration, data modelling, and application performance tuning.
  • Strong project management skills are essential for implementing new systems or major upgrades.
  • Experience managing software lifecycle tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, ManageEngine Projects).
  • Awareness of cloud platforms (Azure essential) and secure development practices.
  • Experienced in agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • Skilled in scope/ effort management, risk assessment, and stakeholder communication.
