We are currently partnered with a global professional services organisation to recruit for Database Engineer. This role sits within a technology team responsible for designing, optimising and maintaining high-performance database platforms that underpin SaaS applications, reporting environments and client billing systems. The position combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and optimise scalable, high-performance SQL database architectures
- Own and improve stored procedures, reusable scripts and database standards
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers and leading code reviews
- Deliver clear documentation covering data models and architectural decisions
- Drive database-focused projects through to delivery
Key requirements:
- Strong experience with Azure SQL and complex relational database design
- Advanced T-SQL skills, including stored procedures and performance tuning
- Experience across OLTP and OLAP data models
- Expertise in security, scaling, cost optimisation and database maintenance
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines (e.g. Azure Data Factory, dbt)
- Knowledge of Power BI-optimised data models and reporting performance
Location & working pattern:
Manchester - 3 days in the office / 2 days remote (company policy)
