Mechanical Power Risk Engineer | Saudi Arabia | Insurance

£90,000- £140,000 including housing allowance- Saudi Arabia

The Role

Do you have extensive experience in thermal power plant operations, maintenance or construction? Are you confident working directly with senior stakeholders across engineering, operations and risk management?If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

We are working with one of the world’s leading energy insurance companies. They provide expert risk engineering services across the globe, supporting clients in sectors from oil and gas to petrochemicals and power generation. They are seeking an experienced Mechanical Power Risk Engineer to join their team in Saudi Arabia.

Reporting to the KSA Risk Engineering Leader, you will conduct on-site surveys of power generation assets, assess operational risks, and produce detailed engineering reports. You will engage with senior client teams to deliver clear recommendations that improve safety, reduce loss potential and support insurance placement.

This is a full, time role with a combination of EMEA (majority) and world-wide travel required (typically 70-80 days per year).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out 2–3 day site surveys of operational power plants, including interviews and tours.
  • Produce reports describing operations, loss prevention features, quality rankings, and recommendations.
  • Estimate potential property damage using bespoke modelling software.
  • Review new power projects and assess risks for operational facilities.
  • Support the Power team with risk placement in international insurance markets.
  • Maintain and develop the Engineering Management System.

The Person

10-15 years' minimum experience in the following areas:

  • Mechanical Engineering, or Power Systems Engineering Degree is essential.
  • Management and execution of new thermal power plant projects with a principal contractor, OEM, or plant owner.
  • Oversight and delivery of equipment overhauls and inspections of thermal power plant turbomachinery (gas turbines, aeroderivative gas turbines, steam turbines, turbine generators, CCGT).
  • Responsible as a leader in the operations and maintenance of thermal power plants.
  • Experience in the execution and/or the operation and maintenance of renewable energy resources / energy from waste would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with the wear and failure characteristics of different turbine models and components.
  • Excellent communications (Oral and Written).
  • Develops and maintains client relationships. 
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of an organisation.
  • Proficient in company sanctioned software and systems, as well as relevant use of the Internet.
  • Proficient in English language.
