The Role

The role of a Fire Alarm Engineer is to respond & repair all fire safety equipment to care homes, NHS buildings, universities, local councils and authorities, sheltered housing, commercial shops, and many other properties throughout the West Midlands.

The Responsibilities

  • A range of servicing, minor works, and attending reactive calls on fire alarm, nurse call, and door access systems.
  • Working on both conventional and addressable systems such as Advanced, Morley, Menvier, C‑Tec, Ziton, and Kentec.
  • Completing maintenance & PPM certification paperwork on a PDA.
  • Working alongside the current team of Engineers.
  • Identifying areas for additional works in and out of the specified contractual requirements, supplying accurate quotations where required.
  • Understanding and completing all work‑related documentation accurately, on time, and exceeding the customer’s expectations.
  • Complying with company policies and procedures.
  • Carrying out work in a safe and diligent manner.
  • Complying with all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Attending and fully participating in training and appraisal activities, as required.
  • Liaising with office staff via phone calls, emails, and use of the PDA system.
  • Reporting to the Regional Manager.

The Person

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Has good general experience working in care homes or public sector environments (preferable).
  • Can communicate at all levels.
  • Is generally IT literate.
  • Has clear oral and written communication skills.
  • Has a customer‑focused approach.
  • Shows ambition, drive and enthusiasm.
  • Has a good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.

Training

Full training will be provided.

The Essential Criteria

  • Experience working in the industry.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance.

The Hours

08:00am – 16:30pm, 5 days per week (40 hours).

1.5× rate door‑to‑door (minus the first 15 minutes of travel).

Overtime paid after 40 hours.

Double time paid for call‑outs between 12am & 5am, and Sundays.

Call‑out rota: one day in every 6.
