About the role
As a Transport Manager, you will play a key role in leading and coordinating the daily transport operation to ensure an efficient, compliant, and customer-focused service. You’ll be responsible for managing people, processes, and performance across the transport function, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and service delivery. This is a hands-on role that requires strong organisational skills, problem-solving ability, and the confidence to lead a busy and fast-paced department.
You will be responsible for
Planning, organising, and overseeing daily transport schedules to meet customer delivery requirements.
Monitoring and optimising routes, ensuring maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Leading, supervising, and supporting drivers and transport staff to maintain high performance and morale.
Ensuring compliance with all transport legislation, including driver hours, tachograph rules, and vehicle standards.
Analysing performance data, preparing KPI reports, and implementing improvements to service levels and operational efficiency.
About you
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated transport professional who can lead from the front and keep operations running smoothly. You’ll have proven experience in transport or logistics management, with a strong working knowledge of UK transport regulations and compliance requirements. A natural leader, you’ll inspire and support your team while maintaining high standards of performance and safety.
You’ll bring strong problem-solving skills, the ability to make confident decisions under pressure, and a proactive approach to challenges. Proficiency in transport management systems and Microsoft Office is essential, and a CPC qualification would be an advantage. Most importantly, you’ll be friendly, resilient, and able to use your initiative to resolve issues quickly and effectively while keeping customer service at the forefront.
