Class 1 HGV Driver - Special Cargo

Be part of the movement – and play your part. About the role We’re looking for a skilled and dependable Class 1 HGV Driver to join our Special Cargo team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a division that transports everything from Viking ships and turf for football pitches to caravans and other one-of-a-kind loads. If it’s special cargo, we move it. You will be responsible for: Safely transporting oversized, unusual, or high-value cargo across the UK and beyond Conducting thorough vehicle checks and ensuring all equipment is secure and compliant Liaising with planning and operations teams to ensure smooth delivery schedules Representing DFDS professionally at customer sites and during transit Completing all necessary documentation and using onboard systems for tracking Adhering to all road safety and load security regulations About you You’ll do well in this role if you’ve got a valid Class 1 (Category C+E) licence, Driver CPC, and a DIGI card. If you’ve handled unusual or oversized loads before, that’s a bonus, but if not, don’t worry, we’ll show you the ropes. You’re someone who takes pride in doing a job properly, keeps safety front of mind, and doesn’t mind a bit of variety in your day.
